The author declares that he feels he is working too hard, and doesn’t want to work harder. He rationalizes this with a protracted attack on consumer culture because consumerism always leaves everyone wanting more…

But the author of this article isn’t really rejecting consumer culture… What he is in fact advocating is consuming more. Consuming more media. He somehow wants to reject working long hours and to pursue more TV watching…

The American work ethic is how we got to the moon. Consumerism is the reason we won’t go back.

Muslim Americans Are Most Optimistic Religious Group, Study Says

Muslim Americans are more optimistic about their future than members of any other religious group in the United States, according to a Gallup report released Tuesday…

The polling found that 69% identified strongly with the United States while 65% said the same about their faith…

They are, as a group, critical of counter-terrorism measures imposed since the terror attacks and a large percentage distrust the FBI, the report said… Just 60% of Muslim Americans said they have confidence in the FBI, compared to 75% or more of Americans of other major faiths, the report said…

Americans overall rate their future a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10, but Muslim Americans rate theirs at 8.4, the report said.

Jewish Americans ranked as second most optimistic at 8.0, following by nonreligious, atheists and agnostic respondants at 7.9.

Mormans’ optimism was rated at 7.8 and Catholics at 7.7, while American Protestants were the least optimistic about the future with 7.4, the report said.

A group of atheists has filed a lawsuit to stop the display of the World Trade Center cross at a memorial of the 9/11 terror attacks…

“The WTC cross has become a Christian icon,” said Dave Silverman, president of the atheist group. “It has been blessed by so-called holy men and presented as a reminder that their god, who couldn’t be bothered to stop the Muslim terrorists or prevent 3,000 people from being killed in his name, cared only enough to bestow upon us some rubble that resembles a cross. It’s a truly ridiculous assertion.”
