I disagree with the conclusions published by USATODAY and many other news sources lately. I have researched and cannot find a good source that defines an “average” federal worker. Having worked as a federal employee myself for 18 years in three different agencies and having been raised in a US Forest Service family (4th agency), I cannot imagine where that inflated figure comes from. My experience does not show wages so high as to make an AVERAGE come out that high. At the time this article was published, I finally crossed the $60,000 level. After eighteen years!
